About FDSA

The Flying Doctors’ Society of Africa (FDSA) is a leading fundraising organization in East Africa, established in 1971 to spread Medical Outreach in Africa. We raise funds through the sale of membership to the Society, donations, sale of branded items and fund raising activities/events.   Our membership covers the whole of East Africa and membership of the Society entitles one to free evacuation services in case of a medical emergency. Our memberships are both annual (one year) and short term (2 weeks to 2 months).

FDSA funds the spread of Medical Outreach across Africa through the Outreach Programme. The objective of this programme is to treat patients who would not otherwise have access to the care they need and to train local health teams in extremely rural areas to carry out this work themselves in the future. The Outreach Programme serves more than 150 rural hospitals in eastern Africa region. FDSA fully finances the Muhimbili Specialist Outreach in Tanzania and partly supports the VVF/Safe Motherhood Outreach program.
